Ontario residents overwhelmingly support civil legal aid, a new public opinion poll shows. The poll, conducted by the Canadian-based Stratcom Communications, reveals that 85 percent of adult Ontario residents support civil legal aid, and 71 percent believe that funding for civil legal aid should be increased. Janet Leiper, Legal Aid of Ontario's Board Chair, says, "We are pleased with the high level of support for legal aid. The poll results show how firmly Ontarians believe that a strong legal aid program is an important part of the justice system that deserves the same consideration as other social services."
