CHARLOTTE - Kennedy Covington is this year's recipient of the Mecklenburg County Bar's (MCB) Outstanding Large Firm Award. Presented at the MCB's Annual Meeting, the award recognized the firm's Real Estate department for exceptional pro bono services provided to the non-profit organization, Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte.

"Kennedy Covington's dedicated attorneys make home ownership dreams come true," said Willard Gourley, special projects coordinator, Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte. "While some companies sponsor and build homes, the work would not begin without Kennedy Covington's pro bono work. We are so grateful for the support they lend in giving families a new start."

Attorneys in Kennedy Covington's Real Estate department handled between 25 and 30 loan closings, property conveyances, and loan documentations for Habitat over the past year. The work required nearly 300 volunteer hours.

"While the purpose of our work for Habitat is not to seek recognition, we gratefully accept the award with the hope that it will serve as a reminder to our colleagues of the importance of providing assistance on a pro bono basis to the Mecklenburg County Community."
