Pro Bono Law Ontario

"As long as a man is handicapped before the bar of justice because of his poverty, our task as lawyers is not done." -- Robert Kennedy

As lawyers and legal professionals, there is one thing that binds us together: we are the guardians of our justice system. Individually and collectively, we share a distinct professional responsibility to ensure that everyone has equal access to that system, not just people who can afford it.

Through the important work developed and led by PBLO, lawyers have a unique opportunity in this province to come together to advance this cause and to make an impact that no one person or organization could acting alone.

When you contribute to PBLO, you support the largest body of pro bono serving our community; you make it possible for dedicated lawyers to do this critical work; and you make our courts and justice system more user-friendly and accessible for those in need.

PBLO's work is made possible by the generous support of individual donors, numerous law firms and corporations, and many other dedicated supporters.

Tax-Deductible Contributions
PBLO is a registered charity under the Canadian Income Tax Act, and as such, all contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Investing in Justice Campaign

Pro Bono Law Ontario's Investing in Justice Campaign is a call for the private bar to take up the challenge of helping sustain and expand programs for low-income Ontarians province-wide; to embrace new technologies to address gaps in service; to increase pro bono participation; and to make it as easy as possible for lawyers to discharge their professional obligation to increase access to justice.

"The legal community can make a significant difference by joining together to help the people who so desperately need pro bono services. This is why Osler committed $50,000 over the next five years to PBLO's Investing in Justice Campaign. I urge you to join us in making a commitment to the Investing in Justice Campaign." - Larry Lowenstein, Partner at Osler Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and Chair of PBLO's Fundraising Committee

PBLO is the profession's response to civil, non-family, legal needs, and each year thousands of Ontarians who have nowhere else to turn, rely on our programs for assistance. For the past 10 years, lawyers of all stripes--from large firms to sole practices, students to retired lawyers, government lawyers and in-house counsel--have generously volunteered their services to PBLO's projects. These lawyers--one by one--ensured that children and families, newcomers, seniors and countless others, access the legal assistance they need and deserve.

Today PBLO is facing funding cuts along with skyrocketing demand for service. We need you to extend your generosity to sustain and grow our programs. Read the Campaign Brochure to find out how you can make a difference.

100% of the proceeds from the Campaign will fund PBLO programs and services that collectively provide critical legal assistance to tens of thousands of low-income and disadvantaged people in our community.
